ACT 013: INT. GUSTAV CABIN BUNK AREA – NIGHT
Dim emergency lights cast a pale blue over the bunkroom. Neku lies in bed, pale, bandaged, breathing shallow. A gentle beep hums from nearby equipment.
A shadow moves.
Bob stands over her, silent.
Neku blinks awake — dazed, confused — her eyes meet Bob’s blank face.
He raises a hand and gestures a soft ‘shhh’, mimicking the motion near where his lips would be.
Neku doesn’t speak. She’s still. Uncertain. Scared.
Bob reaches toward her shoulder, slow and deliberate.
He peels back the wrappings, revealing the raw stump where her arm once was.
Neku flinches, breath catching.
Bob places his hand around the stump — gentle — and squeezes.
Her eyes widen—
She gasps—
And
then—
His fingers split open, revealing dozens of fine, root-like tendrils that erupt from his hand and dig into the flesh in and around the wound, burrowing like worms
NEKU
(screaming, claws desperately at his arm)
AaaAAAAHHHHH—!!
A beat—
The
door to the room bursts open.
NYSSA eye darting reading the situation, charges in, followed closely by SKARFI.
NYSSA
NEKU!!
She lunges forward, throwing herself across Neku’s body.
SKARFI
Bob—?!
What the hell—!
He grabs Bob from behind, locking him in a hold.
Bob doesn't resist—
But his
free arm begins to shift,
transforming as metal realigns with purpose.
It becomes a blade, glowing blue and humming with energy.
Before it can raise—
Danny slams into Bob, arms around his waist. A grunt escapes him as he pulls with everything he’s got.
No hesitation. No questions. Just instinct.
The two of them strain against Bob’s form—
NYSSA
NO!
She throws herself tighter around
Neku, shielding her.
But in one clean, unnatural motion—
SCHLICK
Bob severs his own forearm, just below the elbow—leaving it still fused to Neku’s shoulder.
He steps back.
The glowing blade retracts.
Danny
and Skarfi still cling to him, stunned.
Silence.
Neku gasps for breath, sweat clinging to her skin.
Then—
She lifts her new arm.
It moves. Flexes. Perfectly mimicking her lost limb — from shape to weight — down to the smallest detail.
Her hand trembles in the air.
Everyone stares, breathless. Shocked.
Bob turns without a word, and walks out.
At the doorway, he pauses—just long enough to side-step someone standing there.
Paige — she’s
been watching the whole time, silent and still
Her
hand grips the frame of the door, knuckles white.
FADE OUT.
